The Preferred Drug List changes to accommodate Federal Upper Limit drug adjustments as new drugs are added to the Federal Upper Limit – the Preferred Drug List changes are to occur on the date of the Federal Upper Limit adjustment.

 

In an effort to control the rising costs of health care, specifically drug therapy, the State of Alaska, Department of Health & Social Services, has initiated a program to address this issue. The Preferred Drug List has been developed for DHSS by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee in an effort to select both clinically sound and cost effective medications for use by those eligible for Medicaid benefits.
